Ignite Your Northern Spirit: Share Your Ideas for the Downtown Event Centre

Mar 14, 2025

Now that the site for the downtown event centre has been selected, the City of Greater Sudbury is inviting the community to help shape the future of this exciting new facility.

The project’s architects will be in town the week of March 17 to meet with a number of groups, including Indigenous community partners, business leaders, representatives from the Sudbury Theatre Centre and the Accessibility Advisory panel.

In addition, the team will host several pop-up displays at community events, where residents can learn more about the project, ask questions and share ideas on the event centre’s design.

Sudbury Community Arena (Sudbury Wolves game)

Wednesday, March 19

5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Place des Arts

Wednesday, March 19

7 – 9 p.m.

This pop-up will be held in conjunction with the Downtown Master Plan community workshop. For more information on the Downtown Master Plan, visit overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca. To RSVP for the workshop, visit Eventbrite.com.

Sudbury Community Arena (Sudbury Five game)

Saturday, March 22

5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Please note, while the displays at the Sudbury Community Arena will be set up during sporting events, an event ticket is not required to access the area of these displays.

Community members can also get updates, ask questions and share ideas through the project page on overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca beginning March 18.

These pop-up sessions are the first of many engagement opportunities to come. The project team will be setting up throughout the community over the coming months to engage with as many Greater Sudbury residents as possible. Keep an eye on the project page and the City’s Facebook page for upcoming opportunities.
