Community Workshop Focuses on Plan for Downtown Greater Sudbury

Mar 7, 2025

The City of Greater Sudbury is inviting community members to take part in a workshop to help shape the future of downtown. The session, part of the Downtown Sudbury Master Plan (DMP) review, will be held on Wednesday, March 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Place des Arts.

The event will include an overview of feedback received since the Visioning Workshop held in November 2024, a presentation of the revised Draft Vision, Principles and Strategies for the DMP, and a discussion on future opportunities and strategies for downtown Greater Sudbury.

The review of the DMP is currently in the second of four phases with completion expected in late 2025. Originally approved by Council in 2012, the DMP is being updated to ensure it continues to meet the community’s evolving needs. Many of the initiatives identified in the plan, including the McEwen School of Architecture and Place des Arts, have already been successfully completed, while other projects, like the Cultural Hub and Event Centre, remain underway.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about the Event Centre and share their ideas on its design. Details on additional Event Centre engagement opportunities will be shared in the coming days.
