City Recognizes OLG for Continued Investment in the City of Greater Sudbury

Today, the City of Greater Sudbury thanked the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for its ongoing support during a cheque presentation at the Howard Armstrong Recreation Centre in Hanmer.

Ward 5 Councillor Mike Parent, on behalf of Mayor Paul Lefebvre, was on hand to accept the cheque for the 2025 fiscal year. From April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025, the City received $2,345,168 from revenues generated by Gateway Casinos Sudbury.

“I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to OLG for their unwavering commitment to our community," said Mayor Lefebvre. "Their generous support over the years has strengthened our ability to meet local needs, funding critical infrastructure improvements and driving the growth of our city. OLG continues to be a vital force in our community’s progress, and I look forward to fostering this invaluable partnership for years to come."

Annual contributions from OLG are placed in the City’s general revenue accounts and are invested into capital projects, including roads and facility refurbishments. Since November 1999, Greater Sudbury has received more than $52 million in non-tax gaming revenue from OLG.

OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement (MCA) payments are made under an equitable formula in the MCA which determines the funds municipalities receive for hosting an OLG casino gaming facility. Payments are based on an escalating scale of gaming revenue consistent across all sites in Ontario.
