City of Greater Sudbury to Host Public Open House on Lively Recreation Facility

Nov 18, 2025

The City of Greater Sudbury is hosting a public open house to review the conceptual design options of a new Lively recreational facility on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event will take place in the Michael Vagnini Community Hall at the T.M. Davies Arena.

Residents are invited to attend the open house to review and provide feedback on the conceptual designs for the new facility. This public session follows the work of the Lively Recreation Advisory Panel, which has completed its evaluation of three preferred sites.

In 2021, City Council agreed to the sale of Meatbird Lake Park to Vale Canada Limited for $4 million. Funds from the sale are being reinvested into the Lively/Walden community to develop new recreational opportunities and will ensure residents have engaging options for play in the area.

At the open house, the project team led by 3rdLine.Studio will present the conceptual designs for all three sites. They will also share the preferred option identified by the Advisory Panel and seek public input.

For residents unable to attend the in-person session, the conceptual drawings will be available online at https://overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca/ following the event. An online comment form will be open from the evening of November 26 until December 19, 2025.

Feedback gathered from this engagement, combined with the panel's work, will be used to provide a project update for City Council in Spring 2026.
