The City of Greater Sudbury announced today that Brigitte Pilon has been appointed Director, Strategic Initiatives and Communications.
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this role oversees all internal and external communications at the City, Customer Service and 311, as well as strategic priority areas including Indigenous Relations and Government Relations.
Ms. Pilon earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Communications from Laurentian University in 2010, and later completed a Master’s in Public Relations from Mount Saint Vincent University in 2019. She began her career in the not-for-profit sector before moving into education, holding communications roles within post-secondary institutions and at the school board level.
She then transitioned to the mining industry, serving as Communications Advisor for Vale’s Canadian and UK operations, where she oversaw communications strategies across multiple regions. Most recently, Ms. Pilon served as Chief of Staff at Technica Mining, where she led key strategic initiatives while continuing to provide leadership in communications.
“Brigitte will be a strong addition to our leadership team,” said Shari Lichterman, Chief Administrative Officer. “She brings a wealth of communications experience and a solid track record of working well with key stakeholders in our community.”
"I am excited to be joining the City of Greater Sudbury team during such a transformative time," said Brigitte Pilon. "As a born-and-raised Sudburian, I look forward to working with City staff, the Mayor, and Council to continue telling our community's story to the people of Sudbury and beyond."
Ms. Pilon begins her new role on September 8, 2025.
