Service Level Increase for Conventional Transit Services Coming Soon

Jul 11, 2024

GOVA Transit will see a service level increase beginning August 24, 2024. Implemented over two years, the increase responds to year-over-year ridership increases of more than 50 per cent. GOVA Transit saw the highest ridership ever in 2023, with over 5.2 million passengers.

The overall increase in service hours is approximately 11,000, with about 6,000 hours added in 2024 and the remaining to be added in 2025. This will bring overall annual conventional service hours to approximately 190,000.

Changes include:

•    Added run time during peak time:  Route 1N Main Line New Sudbury
•    Added morning express trip: Route 2 Barry Downe/Cambrian
•    Added frequency to post-secondary routes: Route 3 Laurentian via Regent and Route 11 Donovan/College Boreal

This service level increase aligns with the City of Greater Sudbury Strategic Plan to provide a reliable transit system in Greater Sudbury.
