Municipal Service Schedule for the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

Sep 26, 2024

The City of Greater Sudbury will recognize Monday, September 30, 2024, as a statutory holiday to observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, to honour residential school survivors, their families and communities.

A flag was raised at Tom Davies Square on September 19, to serve as a reminder of the importance of reconciliation. It will act as a symbol to honour the memory of the lost children and to acknowledge the ongoing impact of these institutions on Indigenous communities.

Residents are encouraged to attend events and ceremonies marking National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, to learn more about residential schools, reflect on how we can contribute to reconciliation with Indigenous peoples and recommit to understanding the truth of our shared history. For a list of community events, visit www.greatersudbury.ca/special-days-and-events/national-day-for-truth-and-reconciliation.
