The City Council meeting on July 9 included an update on the Arena/Event Centre project.

The City of Greater Sudbury has entered into the provincial Communities in Bloom competition for 2024.

Staff have been consolidated with Whitefish and will serve the Beaver Lake area based out of that location.

The City of Greater Sudbury’s development charge (DC) rates will change on July 1, 2024. The new rates are outlined in By-law 2024-105 to By-law 2024-110, which were approved by Council at the June 25 meeting, following the completion of the DC background study this spring.

Beginning July 1, 2024, a $5 gate fee will be applied to every vehicle load entering Greater Sudbury landfills and the Walden Small Vehicle Transfer Station, in addition to regular tipping fees. The gate fee was approved as part of the City’s 2024/25 budget.

The City of Greater Sudbury is undertaking a review of Community Action Networks (CANs) to ensure the program continuous to meet the needs of the community. The review is outlined in the 2019-2027 Strategic Plan by informing the development of the City’s community engagement strategy.

Seven municipal beaches are set to open with lifeguard supervision, beginning Saturday, June 15, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
