Celebrate Bike Month in Greater Sudbury

Residents are invited to join the Mayor of Greater Sudbury for a bike ride and proclamation to celebrate Bike Month. Come out to meet fellow cyclists and explore some of the new cycling infrastructure recently installed in our community. Participants are asked to meet at the CP Rail parking lot on Elgin Street at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022. Parking is free after 6 p.m.

The 18.7-kilometre ride will go around the South End neighbourhood of Sudbury, through the grounds of Laurentian University and through Bell Park before returning to downtown Sudbury.

The ride is expected to take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and is suitable for people with some level of cycling experience.

The following additional events are planned to celebrate Bike Month:

  • May 30 to June 3, 2022 is Bike to School Week: During the week of May 30 to June 3, 2022, students and staff from your school are challenged to bike or scoot to school as many days as they can. Add up the kilometres and see how far your school can travel in a week!
  • Thursday, June 16 and Saturday, June 18, 2022 – The Sudbury Market: Tips and tricks for bike safety, and experts on site to chat about all our routes and plans for active travel.
  • Saturday, June 25, 2022 – Sessions Ride Company Bike Exchange: In partnership with Bike Sudbury, Public Health Sudbury and Districts, and the City of Greater Sudbury, Sessions Ride Company will host a Bike Exchange. Location and timing details to follow.
