Memorial Park Clean Up Scheduled for Wednesday, November 10

Nov 10, 2021

As part of ongoing actions of the Encampment Action Plan, the City of Greater Sudbury, residents of the park, and partners from the Homelessness Network will be cleaning up Memorial Park on November 10, in anticipation of Remembrance Day visitors.

The park, which honours the sacrifices of veterans and their families, is an important location for many people on Remembrance Day. Although no formal ceremonies are taking place, visitors are anticipated to attend.

People residing in the park are being encouraged to pitch in and remove garbage and unwanted items from the area to ensure it’s clean for visitors. This does not mean forcible removal of residents or their belongings.

About the Encampment Action Plan:

The City of Greater Sudbury Encampment Action Plan was presented to City Council in October. We continue to work with community partners in the health and social services sector on implementation.

A successful cleanup of the park took place on November 3, in partnership with individuals who reside in the park and outreach workers.
