Book of Condolence for George Edward Armstrong

Greater Sudbury Mayor Brian Bigger and City Council invite residents to sign a virtual book of condolence for National Hockey League legend George Edward Armstrong who died at the age of 90 on January 24, 2021.

Born in Boland’s Bay, Armstrong lived his childhood and early teens in Falconbridge. He signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1946 where he played for 21 seasons. His impressive career included 12 seasons as team captain, four Stanley Cup Victories and the final goal of the Original Six Era in the final game of the historic series.

The book of condolence will remain available for signing online at overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca until the end of day on February 15, 2021.

Messages will be presented to Mr. Armstrong’s family on behalf of the community.
