Localized Flooding in Capreol Caused by Early Evening Storm

Dennie Street at Ormsby Avenue in Capreol is now open after being closed due to flooding from the storm this evening. Water has receded and the road is fully open to traffic.

Residents in Capreol, particularly in the Lakeshore Street area, may have experienced water or sewer backups in their basements. Roads crews are on site to attempt to mitigate the effects of the flooding.

Please do not enter a flooded basement as this can cause life-threatening electrical shock, and pose health risks due to contaminated water. Contact your hydro utility to disconnect electrical power. If the floodwater threatens gas-fired equipment, such as your furnace or hot water heater, call to have the gas turned off.

Flood water can be heavily contaminated with sewage and other pollutants, posing a serious health hazard. Please stay away from flooded areas.
