Residents Invited to Submit Feedback on Local Film Industry

Oct 18, 2019

The City of Greater Sudbury is undertaking a formal review of municipal film bylaw 2015-227 to ensure consistent and continued growth of the local film industry, while taking residential and business interests into account.

Residents are invited to share suggested revisions to the current bylaw and general comments by attending an open house at Tom Davies Square, located at 200 Brady St., on Wednesday, October 23 anytime between 4:30 and 6 p.m.

Residents are also encouraged to share their feedback online at overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca until Friday, November 1, 2019.

Since 2015, the City of Greater Sudbury has hosted more than 72 film and television productions which have generated direct local spending of over $105 million and have led to the creation of hundreds of local jobs. The City recognizes the economic benefits of this growing industry, while also acknowledging the impact of filming in residential and commercial areas of the community.

More information and film bylaw 2015-227 are available at overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca. An update on the review of municipal film bylaw 2015-227, including results of citizen feedback, will be brought forward to the Community Services Committee on December 2, 2019.
