Residents Invited to Comment on Proposed 2019 Budget

Share your thoughts on the proposed 2019 municipal budget online and in person until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2019.

Residents can visit overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca to provide online feedback through a short survey, the budget allocator tool or the idea board. Paper copies of the survey are available at all Citizen Service Centre and Library locations. 

In addition to online input, residents can join City staff at a City Services Fair on Wednesday, February 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the New Sudbury Shopping Centre’s Centre Court. The fair gives community members the opportunity to learn more about a variety of municipal service areas including, Transit, By-law, Emergency Services, Building Services and more.

City staff will also attend a variety of events and locations throughout the budget input process to discuss the budget and collect comments from residents:

  • Main Library, Friday, February 1, from 12 to 2 p.m.
  • Coniston Winterfest, Saturday, February 2, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Garson Arena, Saturday, February 2, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
  • Parkside Centre, Monday, February 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Chelmsford Arena, Monday February 4, from 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Howard Armstrong Recreation Centre, Thursday, February 7, from 5 to 7 p.m.
  • Sudbury Community Arena, Sudbury Wolves Game, Friday, February 8, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Countryside Arena, Saturday, February 9, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • T.M Davies Arena (Lively), Saturday, February 9, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Residents can also attend their neighbourhood Community Action Network meeting for more information on the budget input process.

Comments will be included in a report to the Finance and Administration Committee, which is scheduled to deliberate and approve the 2019 Budget during its February 19, 20 and 21 meetings. Council will be asked to approve the budget immediately following the completion of deliberations.
