Municipal Playground Celebrations and Consultations Begin This Week

Jun 18, 2019

Fifteen municipal playgrounds will be renewed and improved this year through a partnership of the City of Greater Sudbury and United Way Centraide North East Ontario / Nord-est de l’Ontario.

In 2018, City Council approved a plan to renew a total of 58 municipal playgrounds that are in poor condition by the year 2021. To date, 27 municipal playgrounds across the community have either undergone or are scheduled this year for new play structures, landscaping and functional enhancements.

Twelve municipal playgrounds that were scheduled for renewal in 2018 are now complete and ready for play. Informal celebrations will mark the start of a new play season at each location.

Residents are asked to share their ideas for the next phase of playground additions and improvements. Neighbourhood Huddle open houses will be hosted at each of the 15 playgrounds over the next two weeks.

Residents who can’t attend an open house can complete a survey online at overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca or on paper at Greater Sudbury Public Libraries and Citizen Service Centres until Friday, July 5, 2019.

Scheduled events and more information are available at overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca or by calling 705-674-4455, extension 2446.
