GOVA Transit Continues to Improve On Time Performance

Dec 5, 2019

The City of Greater Sudbury remains committed to its promise of better public transit routes and schedules. Effective Saturday, December 7, GOVA Transit will adjust arrival and departure times to further improve the on time performance of its citywide transit network.

Buses serving GOVA Transit hubs at the Downtown Transit Centre, New Sudbury Centre and South End Walmart are not affected by the adjustment. Current arrival and departure times will remain unchanged at transit hubs.

In other parts of the city, buses will arrive and depart one or two minutes earlier or later than current schedules. New GOVA Transit schedules are available online at www.greatersudbury.ca/transit or by calling 705-675-3333.

Passengers are reminded to arrive at a stop at least five minutes prior to their scheduled bus. Real-time bus arrival and departure times are available at mybus.greatersudbury.ca

Additional adjustments to the current GOVA Transit schedule as of Saturday, December 7 are:

  • Bus stop 6935 in front of Shoppers Drug Mart at New Sudbury Centre will move near Entrance 5 of the mall on the east wall. Two new bus shelters will serve this stop and most buses arriving and departing from this GOVA Transit hub.
  • Bus stop 6940 at New Sudbury Centre will remain in place to serve Route 12 Second Avenue.
  • Route 11 Donovan / Collège Boréal will no longer include New Sudbury Centre as part of its route. Instead, this bus will continue on LaSalle Boulevard and Barry Downe Road to proceed directly to Cambrian College. It is anticipated this change will help relieve congestion on Route 2 Barry Downe / Cambrian and Route 1 Main Line.

Residents are reminded that Route 27 Flour Mill does not service Cochrane and Mont Adam Streets during the winter months due to steep topography. Access to Murray Street is provided via Louis Street.

If stops are obstructed by snow, residents are asked to wait at a cleared area close to the stop, such as a driveway or crosswalk. Please signal as the bus approaches to help the operator prepare to stop.

GOVA Transit will continue to adjust its service over the coming months, starting with improved bus connections at GOVA Transit hubs.
