Wanted: Ideas for City’s Smart Cities Challenge Submission

The City of Greater Sudbury is taking part in the Smart Cities Challenge issued by the Government of Canada, calling on communities of our size to submit big ideas for a chance to win up to $10 million. The competition is open to all municipalities, local or regional governments and Indigenous communities.

The Challenge encourages communities to adopt a smart cities approach to improve the lives of their residents through innovation, data and connected technology.

To share your ideas, please sign up on City’s public engagement platform found at overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca. Once signed up, click on the Smart Cities Challenge icon to proceed to the survey.

In order to compile the information we receive and prepare our submission before the Challenge deadline of April 24, feedback will be accepted until April 6, 2018.

Those interested in learning more about Smart Cities are welcome to attend a free panel discussion on March 27, at 6:30 p.m. at Norcat (in the lower atrium), at 1545 Maley Dr. in Sudbury. Representatives from the City of Greater Sudbury will be joined by community partners to talk about what a successful challenge submission could mean for our community.

Information on the challenge can also be found on the City’s website at www.greatersudbury.ca/smartcitieschallenge
