Reminder: Register for City of Greater Sudbury and Heart and Stroke Foundation Free Hands-Only CPR Training 

There’s still time to register for free Hands-Only CPR Training sessions!In an effort to improve survival rates for cardiac arrest victims, the City of Greater Sudbury has teamed up with the Heart and Stroke Foundation to offer free Hands Only CPR sessions to residents. Hands-Only CPR is CPR without mouth-to-mouth breath and involves providing high quality chest compressions. 

City of Greater Sudbury Community Safety department Paramedic staff lead the training.

To register for a two-hour session, call the Sudbury Heart and Stroke Foundation at 705-673-2228 or email HSFO.Sudbury@heartandstroke.ca. Since the beginning of February, almost 200 people have received training at events across the City.

The remaining sessions are scheduled as follows:

  • NEW: Wednesday, March 21 at 6 p.m. St. Paul Catholic Elementary School1 Edward Ave. North, Coniston
  • Monday, March 26 at 6 p.m.Churchill Public School1722 Fielding St., Sudbury
  • Wednesday, March 28 at 6 p.m. (French) Howard Armstrong Recreation Centre 4040 Elmview Dr., Hanmer

Facts from the Heart and Stroke Foundation: 

  • Eight in 10 sudden cardiac arrest incidents occur in public places.
  • The majority of people witnessing cardiac arrest do not perform CPR.
  • Knowing how to respond to a cardiac arrest can increase the odds of a person’s survival and recovery by 30 per cent or more.
