This Week at the Market: Microgreens and Kale

Jul 7, 2017

The Market is gearing up for another exciting Saturday at our downtown location beginning at 8 a.m. Visit the Market to see a wide selection of locally and provincially grown produce from McGrows, Three Forks Farm, Freskiw Farms, Beaulieu Farm, Northern Produce, Geo-Green Growers, Holla’s, Dare 2 Dream/Sandy Loam Produce, B & J’s Farm, including local strawberries, herbs, radishes, cabbage, kale, kohlrabi, snap peas and much, much more!

New to the market this week, Smart Greens will offer microgreens, and lots of kale! Some growers will have flower baskets and cut flower arrangements available to brighten your garden and attract useful pollinators.

Choose from preserved meats and cheeses from Superior Meats; seasoned meat ready for the oven or barbecue from HoneyLink; pies and other sweets from La Baguette Magique; and pies, breads, pastries and more from CJ Pies. The Perogy Princess will have authentic polish schnitzel on the hot food menu, dairy free perogies, and peas and salads from her organic garden.

Our craft vendors have beautiful handmade gifts and goodies to surprise and delight. Mindy Made It is featuring tea towel bread bags this week. Plain Jane Designs is introducing sandalwood beads on stretchy natural stone bracelets. Applegarth Embroidery has new designs every week on popular hooded towels, handmade from the heart; and “Skillows,” skill-development pillows for toddlers from String Things. Find jewelry, hand-crafted soap, aromatherapy products, native crafts, crocheted superheroes, hats and aprons, and more!

The Market will be hosting a special guest this Saturday, with Jenn Ricker from Zen Yoga offering a yoga demonstration at 11:30 a.m. Rainbow Routes will be hosting a Hike to the Market! Find out more and register at www.rainbowroutes.com/calendar.

The Market is open rain or shine on Saturdays downtown at the VIA station at 233 Elgin St., from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. from June 3 to October 28. Join us at our new second location, in the North parking lot at York and Paris streets Thursdays from 3 to 7 p.m., until September 21.
