Rock Blasting on the Kingsway and Second Avenue Traffic Update

Sep 1, 2017

Rock blasting on the Kingsway, across from the Silver Hills Drive intersection, will stop both eastbound and westbound traffic for less than 10 minutes at a time, starting Tuesday, September 5.

Blasting is scheduled three times daily at approximately 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Westbound traffic is reduced to one lane in the vicinity of blasting operations.

This work is for construction of a sidewalk and boulevard between Silver Hills Drive to just west of Bancroft Drive on the north side of the Kingsway. Rock blasting is tentatively scheduled to be complete by Friday, September 15.

Water main and storm sewer improvements will close Second Avenue between Hebert Street and Camelot Drive at 7 a.m. Tuesday, September 5 to 5 p.m. Friday, September 22.

Northbound traffic will be detoured through Hebert Street, or Third Avenue, while southbound traffic will be routed left onto Scarlett Road.

One lane of traffic will be maintained for local traffic and emergency service vehicles. As an additional safety measure temporary speed bumps will be installed along third Avenue, Greenbriar Drive and Highgate Road.
