Cultural Action Committee Accepting Applications

Oct 13, 2017

The Greater Sudbury Development Corporation (GSDC) is seeking six citizens for appointment to the Cultural Action Committee.

The Cultural Action Plan, which accompanies the Greater Sudbury Cultural Plan, lays out specific actions within the four strategic directions of Creative Identity, Creative People, Creative Places and Creative Economy. It outlines potential initiatives, partners, resources and timelines to help realize the goals of the plan.

Cultural Action Committee members will work with the GSDC to provide an experienced resource for the implementation of the plan. The committee will represent the diversity among the city’s residents, businesses, education sectors, and arts and cultural communities. It will serve as a forum for soliciting the opinions of the larger community on issues related to the actions identified in the Cultural Action Plan.

The Cultural Action Committee will meet on a quarterly basis at Tom Davies Square. Committee members will have the option of a two- or three-year term, from November 2017 to November 2019, or from November 2017 to November 2020.

The Cultural Action Committee was formed in 2015 as a result of the Council-endorsed Greater Sudbury Cultural Plan, which demonstrates the City of Greater Sudbury’s recognition of the value of culture in the community.
