Street Sweeping Underway in Greater Sudbury

The City’s street sweeping program is currently underway and will run through to mid-June.

City crews have started sweeping sidewalks, boulevards, medians and some streets throughout the city. Currently, business centres and the Sudbury Rocks Marathon route are areas of high priority. Areas not listed under the contractor's routes are swept by City crews, including the downtown core.

The City’s street sweeping contract is into its 3rd year with contractors A & G The Road Cleaners Ltd. and Bruell Contracting Ltd. These contractors are outfitted with a fleet of specialized street sweeping equipment needed to complete operations in a timely and efficient manner.

Contractors are scheduled to begin operations the week of April 25, weather permitting. The tentative schedule is as follows:

A & G The Road Cleaners Ltd.
April 25 to May 6 – Sudbury Rocks marathon route, Kingsway, and part of the Flour Mill, downtown and the area around the former Hospital site
May 9 to May 20 - New Sudbury, Minnow Lake and Moonlight Area
May 15 to May 27 - Southend and Copper Cliff Area
May 30 to June 10 – Garson and Falconbridge Area

Bruell Contracting Ltd
April 25 to May 3 - Lively
May 4 to May 18 – Azilda and Chelmsford
May 19 to 27 - McCrea Heights, Val Caron, Val Therese and Hanmer
May 30 to June 10 - Capreol

Residents are asked to avoid parking overnight on municipal roads and to remove basketball and hockey nets from streets, until sweeping is complete. Residents are also asked not to place garbage containers and recycling boxes on roads and in gutters.

We thank residents for their patience and for understanding that noise and dust are inevitable during street sweeping operations.
