For Immediate Release
Thursday, February 18, 2016

Residents of Dowling, Onaping and Levack will test fixed route TransCab service to and from their communities on a six month trial basis, starting Monday, February 29. New fixed route TransCab service will offer greater flexibility for residents who unexpectedly find themselves in need of transportation.

Unlike conventional TransCab service, which requires up to 90 minutes advance booking, passengers will board TransCab shuttles at designated locations in Dowling, Onaping and Levack. Shuttles will transport passengers to Greater Sudbury Transit Route 702, leaving the corner of St. Onge Street and Highway 144 at 6:40 a.m., 7:55 a.m, 3:10 p.m. and 4:55 p.m.

Return trips from Downtown Sudbury will connect with the TransCab shuttle at 7:55 a.m., 3:10 p.m. and 4:55 p.m. to bring passengers to designated locations in their communities. For TransCabs at other times, residents will book conventional service, which offers direct transportation to and from their homes by dialing 705-522-1380 at least 90 minutes before their bus departure time.

New fixed route TransCabs are available Mondays to Saturdays, departing from the following locations: Third Avenue at Nickel Street and Third Avenue at First Avenue in Levack, the Kwik-Way and Community Centre in Onaping, and Lionel Avenue at Rheaume Street and the Valumart in Dowling.

TransCab is included with Greater Sudbury Transit fares at no extra charge. For departure times and more information, please visit www.greatersudbury.ca/transit or dial 705-675-3333.
