Community Consultation – Subwatershed Study

The City of Greater Sudbury was recently awarded a grant from the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change to conduct nine subwatershed studies in our community, over the next two years.

The City will host a public open house on March 9, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. in Room C-13A/B at Tom Davies Square to give members of the public a chance to learn more about the study and provide feedback.

What are we looking to achieve? We want to get a 360° look at the health of our subwatershed systems. How will we do this? We’ll be looking at stormwater-related risks when it comes to land-use decisions and community planning in order to develop a strong framework for responsible development within the subwatershed areas to preserve and enhance the natural environment.

Our water resources are an important aspect of daily living in our community. From drinking water for our residents and animals to supporting habitat for our plants and wildlife, as well as providing great recreation opportunities, protecting our watersheds has been identified as a priority in the City of Greater Sudbury’s Official Plan.

Can’t make the meeting? Feedback may be submitted online at www.greatersudbury.ca/watershedstudy2016. Feedback will be accepted until March 18, 2016 (end of day). Print forms are available at local Citizen Service Centre or Library.
