Deadline for Applications to Municipal Election Compliance Audit Committee

Citizens are reminded of deadlines to submit an application for an Election Compliance Audit of candidates for Mayor, Council and School Board Trustee in the 2014 municipal election. Eligible voters who have reasonable grounds to believe that a local candidate has contravened rules for election campaign finances under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 may apply for an Election Compliance Audit.

The deadline to apply for an Election Compliance Audit of a financial statement submitted for the regular campaign period is June 25, 2015. The deadline to apply for an Election Compliance Audit of a financial statement submitted for the supplementary campaign period is December 24, 2015.

Financial statements submitted by candidates in the 2014 municipal election are available for viewing at www.greatersudbury.ca/elections

An application for an Election Compliance Audit must include no more than 10 written pages stating the reasons why it is believed that a candidate has contravened election finance rules. A $28 application fee must accompany the submission before the application can be processed. Applications submitted by mail must include a certified cheque or money order.
