Nominating Committee Meeting Scheduled for Appointment of Ward 8 Councillor

The City of Greater Sudbury Nominating Committee will meet on Wednesday, June 25, starting at 4 p.m. On the agenda is the appointment of an individual to the position of Councillor, Ward 8, which was declared vacant on May 13, 2014.  

The full process for the appointment is outlined in the agenda for the Nominating Committee meeting, located at http://agendasonline.greatersudbury.ca. There were 13 applicants to the position. Each applicant is permitted to make a five-minute presentation to the Committee. Following the presentations, members of the Nominating Committee will select an applicant. 

Once Council has approved the Nomination at their meeting of July 8th, the newly appointed member of Council will be required to make a declaration of office prior to sitting as a member of Council. 

The Nominating Committee meeting is being held in Council Chamber and is open to the public.
