Civil Marriage Ceremonies

The City of Greater Sudbury welcomes all couples to our civil marriage ceremonies. We offer civil marriage ceremonies to couples who are looking to have a simple, non-denominational ceremony at City Hall in either official language.

Ceremonies are performed by the City Clerk and Deputy Clerks and are held on Friday afternoons in the Council Chamber at the following times:

  • 1:15 p.m.
  • 2:00 p.m.
  • 2:45 p.m.
  • 3:30 p.m.

Wedding ceremonies cannot be booked outside of the hours and location outlined above.

The Council Chamber is reserved for 30 minutes per ceremony, and the ceremony itself typically lasts 10-15 minutes, following which couples may remain briefly in the Council Chamber to accept best wishes and take a few photos.

As there are multiple weddings scheduled each Friday, all ceremonies are expected to start on time and any ceremony for which the ten (10) minute grace period has elapsed will be rescheduled.

The cost of the ceremony is $390. This fee is non-refundable and is payable by debit card or credit card.
