Step 2: Complete a Special Event Application
Does my event need a special event application form?
The Special Event Application prompts you with questions to identify additional services and/ or permits your event will need. Please fill out the survey to the best of your ability, as this will assist staff in providing support specific to your event’s needs. Upon submission, you will be assigned a City Liaison who will be your main contact for your event planning. They will reach out to you directly within 10 business days to discuss next steps. If there are any changes to your event after submitting your application, please contact your City liaison.
A Special Event application MUST be completed and submitted at least 60 days prior to your event if any of the following apply:

The event has the potential to impact City/Emergency services.

Food is being served or sold to the public.

Alcohol is being served or sold to the public.

The event will require road/lane/sidewalk occupancy, closure or interruptions.

The event will include amplified sound. Exemptions to the City’s Noise Bylaw may be required (Bylaw 2018-29 & 2018-274).

The event will include tents or groups of tents covering an area of more than 60 square metres (646 sq.ft.) or tents that are attached to a building or are erected three metres (10 feet) or less from other structures.

The event will include bleachers or movie/ inflatable screens

The event will include a lottery or games of chance.

The event will include fire/bonfire, fireworks or pyrotechnics displays.

The event will include amusement rides or inflatable devices.

The event will include pony and/or wagon rides or petting zoos.

The event will require Police, Ambulance (EMS) or Fire Services approval.

The event will require support from municipal Parks Services.

When is a Special Event Application not required?
If you are looking to host your event at one of the following facilities, and your event does not include any of the above-listed event specifications, you are not required to complete a Special Event Application Form.

How to submit an application
Once you are ready to start your application, please use the online Special Event application portal.
New users will need to create an account while returning users can sign into their existing account.
Please note that submitting a special event application does not guarantee approval for your event to proceed. City staff have discretion in approving or declining special events on City property.
