Downtowns are important, historic and symbolic. They are the heart of a community - a reflection of a city’s image, pride and prosperity. A strong, implementable vision for Downtown Sudbury is critical to a vibrant and prosperous future for our community.
The Downtown Master Plan (DMP) presents strategies for improving our downtown’s economic, cultural and retail activity, its sense of place and its role as the vibrant heartbeat of northern Ontario. With its 30-year plan period, the DMP has been and will continue to be a blueprint for many projects and initiatives that strengthen our city as a whole. This includes the Transformation Project, which is a significant commitment recognized in the DMP.
The revised and updated 2026 DMP was brought to Council and endorsed on February 10, 2026.
