Why some communities are not included

If you live in Copper Cliff, Lively, Dowling, Onaping, Levack, Chelmsford, Azilda, the Valley, Hanmer, Capreol, Skead, Falconbridge, or Garson, your home is not included in the Lead Sampling Program.

These drinking water systems have been assessed by the Province and were granted regulatory relief because:

• No lead was detected, or
• Only very low lead levels were found during previous testing

As a result, routine lead sampling at individual homes is not required in these areas.

What testing is done in these communities

In communities outside of the Sudbury system, the City continues to monitor drinking water quality through distribution system testing. This testing checks water quality in the watermain system and is completed:

• Every year, or
• Every few years

This meets all provincial requirements.
