What is the City doing to protect residents from lead exposure in drinking water?

For customers with lead water pipes, pitchers of drinking water and lead filters will be provided free of charge for the short term (two years) to reduce lead exposure in the highest-risk residential properties.

The City offers a grant of $3,000 and a loan of up to $10,000 to replace the private portion of lead water service lines with an appropriate material (typically copper) as part of its Private Lead Water Service Line Replacement Program. The City will replace the public portion of the lead water service line with an appropriate material (typically copper).

The City continues to work with Public Health Sudbury & Districts to assess other methods for reducing lead levels at the tap.
