Water By-Laws
Outdoor Watering By-Law
Lawn and garden watering restrictions are in effect from June 1 until the end of September. If your home address ends with:
- An odd number, you can water lawns, gardens, trees and shrubs on odd-numbered days of the month.
- An even number, you can water lawns, gardens, trees and shrubs on even-numbered dates of the month.
The Outdoor Watering Bylaw applies both day and night. First time violations could result in a $300 ticket. Repeat violations could lead to charges under the Provincial Offences Act and a fine of up to $5,000.

Backflow Prevention By-law
The City of Greater Sudbury’s Backflow Prevention By-law requires the installation and regular maintenance of backflow prevention devices within the City. You must comply with the Backflow Prevention By-law if you are:
- An Industrial/Commercial/Institutional (ICI) customer

If you are unsure if this applies to you, please see our Backflow Prevention By-law.
