Curb Stops
If you have City water service, a curb stop has been installed at your property line. The curb stop has a 13 cm (5 inch) diameter cover which provides access to an underground valve which controls City water delivery to your property.

- In the event of an emergency, we may need to turn off water delivery to your property at this valve.
- If you need to turn off water service for building renovations, and cannot use your indoor shutoff valve for any reason, City crews will turn off the valve at the curb stop for a fee.
How to care for your curb stop
- Never bury it or make it hard to access.
- The curb stop cover should be flush with ground level. If it is too high or too low, call 311 and we will send someone to adjust it. This is not an emergency.
- Never remove the cover of your curb stop. The cover prevents dirt from entering the valve.
- If crews need to access the curb stop valve, and it is buried or inaccessible there may be a long delay. Keep this in mind if you are planning renovation projects that affect your water service.
- Report any problems or damage to your curb stop by calling 311.
