Fees for Frozen Pipes on City Property

If the frozen water pipe affecting you is on City property, there is no charge for City crews thawing the pipe.

• You will be told to leave your water running at a steady stream about the width of a drinking straw to keep the pipe from freezing again.
• A water meter reading will be taken and your water billing will be adjusted to the rate that was billed during the same period last year.
• You will receive a letter from the City to let you know when you can stop running your water.

If the water pipes refreeze on City property and you have not followed instructions to leave your water running to prevent frozen pipes, you may be charged for the cost of crews to thaw the pipes a second time.
