Onaping/Levack
The Onaping/Levack drinking water system is composed of:
- Three pumps
- An elevated storage tank with re-chlorination capabilities
- A pressure control/booster building with stand-by power
- a pressure control facility
- Distribution piping
Due to its proximity to a major highway, sodium levels within the aquifer are monitored on a quarterly basis to ensure sufficient water quality. Before entering the distribution system, water is disinfected with chlorine gas. Next, polyphosphate is added to the water as a corrosion control and sodium hydroxide is used for pH adjustment. Finally, fluoride is added to water to promote oral health, as is mandated by PHSD.
