What is the Ellis Reservoir?
Built in 1993 to replace the Sudbury Water Towers, the Ellis Reservoir is the primary water source for Greater Sudbury. Located in Minnow Lake between Howey and Bancroft Drives, it holds about 36 million liters of water.
Chosen for its elevation, the reservoir consists of two large tanks hidden beneath a grassy hill, receiving water from both the Wahnapitae and David Street plants. It typically drains during peak usage hours (about 8 hours) and refills when demand is lower.
