Option 1: Use the AMI Online Portal (Recommended)
If your property has an AMI meter, the online portal is the quickest and most reliable way to check for leaks. AMI meters automatically send water usage data to Greater Sudbury Utilities. Through the portal, you can:
- View hourly or daily water use
- Identify continuous water flow when nothing should be running
- Monitor trends to avoid unexpected charges
- Set continuous consumption alerts
You choose how long water must run before an alert is triggered and how you want to be notified. If uninterrupted water use exceeds your selected threshold, you will receive a notification. This does not automatically mean there is a leak, but it is a strong indicator that water may be running when it should not be.
After receiving an alert, check faucets, toilets, appliances and outdoor taps, and review usage data in the portal. Repair any leaks you find or contact a licensed plumber if needed.
Alerts are an early warning tool. You remain responsible for follow-up and repairs.
