Toiletries and Hygienic Products

Although many hygienic wipes and baby wipes are advertised as flushable, they do not breakdown in pipes and can create blockages. Even paper towel and facial tissues do not break down in the same way toilet paper does when introduced to water. Remember that our sewer system is not a garbage!

Here are some examples of things to never introduce to sewer pipes:

  • Facial tissues feminine hygienic products“flushable” wipes, diapers, cottons swabs, bandages, cosmetics, dental floss, hair

Pro Tip: Recycle your old cosmetics with Terracycle, and add drain strainers to bathroom sinks and tubs to help prevent problematic materials from entering drains.
