Bike Month

Bike Month

Greater Sudbury residents are invited to (re)discover the joy of riding a bike during annual Bike Month celebrations throughout the month of June!

Bike Month kicks off on June 1 and continues all month long with dozens of ways to celebrate, including community rides, and free events like the Kids Bike Exchange.

To get involved, watch this space for a calendar of planned community events to be hosted by the City and its community partners.

May 30 – June 3, 2022 is Bike to School Week!

During the week of May 30 to June 3, students and staff from your school are challenged to bike or scoot to school as many days as they can. Add up the kilometres and see how far your school can travel in a week!

Participating students will be entered into a draw for great prizes, just for getting active, being green and having fun!

Remember, if it’s active travel, it counts!

June 9, 2022 – Mayor’s Bike Ride and Proclamation

Join us at 5:30 p.m. at the CP Rail parking lot on Elgin Street to kick off Bike Month with the Mayor of Greater Sudbury.

The Mayor will read a proclamation and participate in a community bike ride. The 18.7 km ride will go around the South End neighbourhood of Sudbury, through the grounds of Laurentian University and through Bell Park before returning to downtown Sudbury.

Thursday, June 16 and Saturday, June 18, 2022 – The Sudbury Market

Meet us at our spot at the Sudbury Market. We’ll have a spin-the-wheel for prizes, tips and tricks for bike safety, and experts on site to chat about all of our routes and plans for active travel.

Saturday, June 25, 2022- Sessions Bike Exchange

In partnership with Bike Sudbury, Public Health Sudbury and Districts, and the City of Greater Sudbury, Sessions Ride Company will host a Bike Exchange (time and location details are to come).

Children can trade in their outgrown bike for a gently used one of the correct size. Children will also receive a helmet if they do not currently own one that fits.

Families who do not have bicycles to trade in may receive a bike by making a token donation to help support the project.
