Service Animals
Service Animals are working animals that have been trained to assist and perform tasks for persons with disabilities. The Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulations 191/11 provides more detail and authority on the use of service animals by persons with disabilities.
If you are travelling with a service animal, it must be under your care and control at all times. Service animals must wear a vest or harness that identifies them as an animal in service to you. Only one service animal is permitted to accompany you on board GOVA Plus.
In the interest of public safety and comfort, if you require a service animal while travelling, you will be required to provide a letter from a regulated health professional stating that you require the animal for reasons relating to your disability. This letter should be submitted when you apply to use the GOVA Plus service.
Please note that under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and its regulations , emotional support and therapy animals are considered to be personal pets and not service animals.
Personal pets are not permitted on board GOVA Plus buses except for small pets that can be confined to a portable pet crate no larger than 26” L x 17 W x 17” H (66 cm L x 43 cm W x 43 cm H).
