What is an AED and what does it do?

An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable medical device used to treat a person experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. The AED analyzes the person's heart rhythm and, when appropriate, delivers an electrical shock to help restore a normal heart rhythm.

The ZOLL AED 3® provides clear voice and visual prompts to guide the rescuer through the process, including instructions for applying the pads and performing CPR. It provides real-time feedback on the quality of chest compressions, helping the rescuer perform effective CPR.
