Can I be sued for using an AED?

Ontario law provides protection from civil liability for people who voluntarily use a defibrillator in good faith during an emergency. The Chase McEachern Act (Heart Defibrillator Civil Liability), 2007 protects individuals from liability for negligence when using a defibrillator at the immediate scene of an emergency, except in cases of gross negligence.

If someone is experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, don't hesitate to call 911, start CPR and use the AED.
