How to Apply for Ontario Works Assistance
Online
- Fill out an Online Application for Social Assistance.
- After you submit your online application, our office will assign a caseworker who will contact you within three business days.
- This caseworker will schedule a date and time for you to come into the office to review and sign your application.
By phone
- Call 1-888-999-1142.
- An intake screener will ask you a series of questions, including the reason why you are applying for assistance.
- We will complete a referral and assign it to a caseworker.
- The caseworker will contact you within three business days to schedule a date and time to come into the office to complete an application for assistance. We will let you know what information you need to bring to the interview.
During your appointment
- If you have a spouse or partner, they will have to be present for the interview along with any dependent(s) over the age of 18.
- Don’t forget to bring your eligibility documentation to ensure your application can be processed in a timely manner.
- If you do not have all of the information when you have your interview, your caseworker may still be able to process your application, and you can provide it later.
- The caseworker will let you know if you qualify for assistance.
- If you quality for assistance, we will tell you how much money you can expect to receive.
