I'm interested in using an approved animal resistant waste storage container for my waste collection but I don't have the funds to make this investment. Is there any assistance for me?
Residential and non-residential roadside waste collection services will be rescheduled. Please do not place garbage, green carts or blue boxes at the roadside, as this may impact road clearing efforts. Alternate pickup dates will be communicated once available. We will provide an update once bulky item collection service has been restored.
Due to the winter storm event, furniture, appliance and electronic collection services are also temporarily suspended. Please do not place these items at the roadside, in laneways or on top of snowbanks, as they may impact snow clearing operations.
New Green Cart requests have also been suspended.
All landfill sites and the Recycling Centre are closed.
Yes, we can help. A special support program has been developed to ease the financial burden of investing in an approved animal resistant waste storage container. Anyone on the City’s roadside collection program can apply for the rent-to-own program and if your annual family income is $47,000 or below, you can also qualify for 50 per cent subsidy (subsidies will be granted on a first come first serve basis). Application forms will available on the City website in January 2021.
