I don't need to participate in the Green Cart program because I do backyard composting.
Residential and non-residential roadside waste collection services will be rescheduled. Please do not place garbage, green carts or blue boxes at the roadside, as this may impact road clearing efforts. Alternate pickup dates will be communicated once available. We will provide an update once bulky item collection service has been restored.
Due to the winter storm event, furniture, appliance and electronic collection services are also temporarily suspended. Please do not place these items at the roadside, in laneways or on top of snowbanks, as they may impact snow clearing operations.
New Green Cart requests have also been suspended.
All landfill sites and the Recycling Centre are closed.
Great! We encourage you to continue with your backyard composting but you likely are not managing all your organic food waste and non-recyclable papers in your backyard composter. Did you know that the Green Cart program can divert all those food waste items that you can’t manage in your backyard composter such as meat, bones, shells, pasta, sauce and gravy, bread and baked goods, cooking oils and dairy products. So, whatever you can’t put in your backyard composter, we are happy to take in your Green Cart.
