Fire Safety for Seniors Program

Greater Sudbury Fire Services provides free consultations to area homeowners over the age of 55.

Plan Your Escape

  • Know what to do and where to go from any room in your home.

Smoke Alarms Save Lives

  • Install a smoke alarm on every level of your home, especially near the sleeping areas. It’s the law.

Protect Yourself Against The Silent Killer

  • Carbon Monoxide is an odourless, colourless gas. A carbon monoxide alarm may be your best line of defence against this killer.

Electrical Safety

  • Avoid overloading circuits. Never place cords under any flooring, mats, or carpets. Avoid prolonged use of extension cords.

Service Your Appliances

  • A certified technician should regularly service fuel-burning appliances such as furnaces, boilers, fireplaces, gas dryers, and gas stoves.

This program will provide the necessary tools and guidance for residents to feel fire safety-ready in their own homes. To book a Fire Safety Consultation, contact the City of Greater Sudbury Fire Services at 705-674-4455, extension 3743, or email fireinquiries@greatersudbury.ca.
