Unit Key Policy

As part of the initial leasing arrangement, only one key will be issued to each adult leaseholder of the unit. In multi-residential buildings where required, a front door entry key will be issued in addition to the unit key for a total of two keys per adult occupant.

The issuing of all additional keys shall be authorized in advance and requested in writing by the leaseholder(s) through the use of a GSHC form identified for that purpose. The name, address, phone number and signature of the recipient, acknowledging the reason for  holding the additional key will be a requirement of  issuing any additional keys. A $10 non-refundable fee for each additional key shall apply and must be paid before the issuing of any additional key.

Some of the criteria for issuing additional unit keys include but are not limited to:

  • Chronic medical problems
  • Frail elderly
  • Emergency medical call system
  • Interim medical observation
  • Special priority
  • Latch Key (Minimum 12 years of age)
  • Other (At Property Management’s discretion on a case-by-case basis)

The tenant(s) or the recipient(s) of additional keys shall be advised that copying of front entry and unit keys is strictly prohibited for safety and security reasons. The issuing of all additional keys shall be at the sole discretion of GSHC.
