Swimming Pools on GHSC Property

Each summer, our Property Management staff receives calls from concerned parents that some tenants have installed large swimming pools. The parents are concerned that children may enter the pools unsupervised as many of these pools are left with water overnight.

The Greater City of Sudbury bylaw states that any pool that has the capacity to hold 24 inches of water or more must be fenced. The current policy of the Greater Sudbury Housing Corporation prevents tenants from installing fences on the property and therefore such pools are not allowed on GSHC properties.
