Civic Memorial Mausoleum
The following regulations have been developed solely for the protection of the beauty and sanctity of this mausoleum:

Tokens of Remembrance

Only artificial flowers will be permitted and must be placed in the vase attachment on the crypt. No wreaths, glass enclosed floral arrangements, photos, cards, candles or any other adornment may be attached to the crypt. Any such adornment will be removed and disposed of without notice at the owner’s expense. Flower arrangements are permitted inside the mausoleum chapel for the day of the committal service only, after which they shall be removed.

Entombment

Entombment procedures shall be under the exclusive control and direction of cemetery staff. The casket shall be placed in the crypt only after all mourners and visitors have left the mausoleum. Crypts may be opened and sealed only by cemetery staff, City employees or a City contractor, acting on the written authorization of the General Manager.

Maximum Interments

  • Single crypt – one casket and one urn

  • Double crypt – two caskets and two urns

Memorialization
To ensure desired uniformity and a standard of workmanship, all memorialization, lettering and adornments for any mausoleum crypt shall be installed by City employees or a City contractor, and as per memorialization format in by-law.

The following is the procedure to be followed when purchasing adornments for the mausoleum crypt fronts:

  • Adornments include emblems, picture and frame, verse, stained glass light inserts.

  • An order, in its entirety, is to be delivered to the cemetery office. Installation shall be done by cemetery staff or a City contractor.
  • Installation charge per adornment is $56, including HST.
  • All emblems or picture frames must be of solid cast bronze and match the colour of the lettering supplied by the cemetery for the names and dates.
  • Corner emblems shall not exceed 22 cm in size.
  • Centre emblems shall not exceed 18 cm.
  • Picture frames shall not exceed 18 cm.
  • The verse must be solid cast bronze in the Roman Spazzolato style, in 2 cm lettering, maximum 90 letters. Only the bronze lettering for name(s) and date(s) is provided by the cemetery.
  • Pins are not permitted on the back of these items, as they will be attached to the crypt with silicone.
