How to Prepare for an Inspection

The City aims to carry out all inspections the day after they are scheduled. However, in accordance with the Ontario Building Code, building inspections may be conducted within two business days. The period to conduct the inspection begins on the business day after the request was made, excluding weekends and statutory holidays. 

Inspection requests should be called into the office at least one day before the requested date, before 2 p.m. Phone 705-674-4455, extension 4278 or book online through Pronto at least two days before the requested date. 

Ensure all work to be inspected remains exposed until it has been inspected and approved. Printed copies of the approved and issued building plans and drawings, stamps and comments included must be available on-site for the Inspector to review. 

Please provide suitable and safe on-site access for an efficient inspection (stairs and ramps should have handrails, no ladders).
